03/05/2024

Celebrating Black Excellence Across Industries

This year for Black History Month 2024, PayPal’s employee resource group, Amplify, focused on the theme of 'Black Excellence Across Industries' spanning the many impacts Black Americans have had in shaping American culture and business.

To celebrate the month, we spotlighted two employees who exemplify Black excellence by creating positive impact through their work within PayPal, Amplify, and their communities.

The PayPal value that resonates the most with me is inclusion. Chamon G.Sr. Manager, Cloud Security

Meet Chamon Gayton, a US Army Veteran who has held a career in security and compliance spanning 15 years. She recently joined PayPal a little over a year ago in her current role as Sr. Manager of Cloud Security.

Reflecting on her experiences, Chamon emphasizes, "The PayPal value that best resonates with me is inclusion. I am a firm believer in being included and invited to the table. Throughout my career, I have been the only woman and person of color in the room, and I think it is very important to include who is necessary to all conversations," they share.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Chamon actively mentors aspiring cybersecurity professionals, recognizing the need for increased representation in their field. She helped establish an Amplify adjacent cybersecurity group at PayPal, providing a platform for underrepresented individuals to thrive.

I am very passionate about the Amplify community and DEI initiatives in the tech space. Omar M. Global Partner Marketing Lead

Meet Omar Moore, Global Partner Marketing Lead on PayPal’s SMB NA team.

Omar has worked with PayPal for over six years and brings with him over 15 years of marketing experience from esteemed firms like P&G, Intel, and Samsung. His expertise lies in developing marketing campaigns, fostering collaboration and driving results across diverse teams. "Collaboration is the PayPal value that resonates the most with me. For me to be successful at my role I have to balance the goals of PayPal and our strategic partners to develop marketing initiatives that will meet both companies' goals and expectations," he shares.

Omar also dedicates time to Amplify, a PayPal employee resource group, to help create programming that not only unites the PayPal community but also creates a safe space for Black employees to thrive. One of his proudest moments involved contributing to initiatives like the Afro Tech essay competition, which helped to empower participating college students with valuable resources and opportunities for career advancement.

As we continue to advocate for inclusion and excellence, we hope Omar and Chamon's stories serve as inspiration for professionals from all backgrounds.
