Vice President of Global Developer Relations

Meet Bo English-W., Vice President of Global Developer Relations at PayPal. She’s excited to step into her new role at PayPal and describes it as the “perfect next step.” As VP of this org, Bo will be working at the intersection of PayPal’s global payments platform and developer ecosystems -- helping build, grow, and energize the communities and relationships that power our future.

Tell us more about your career journey and why you chose PayPal?

“I kicked off my tech career as a developer, and honestly, once you’ve shipped your first bug to production, you’re a dev for life. I’ve worked my way through nearly every corner of the tech ecosystem: writing code, breaking code through testing, creating documentation people can actually understand, managing portfolios and projects, and shaping product strategy. Along the way, I realized my true calling wasn’t a single role. It was solving problems for developers, which is where my love for Developer Relations began.

For the past six years, I’ve been on a mission to change policies for the better, shift cultures, and make sure the developer’s voice is not only represented but amplified. My constant focus is making it easier, better, and more enjoyable for developers to build.”

“That mission is exactly what brought me to PayPal. The company is rebuilding and re-energizing its entire developer experience, and when you’re given the opportunity to help lead a transformation that can elevate millions of builders, you take it.”

What kinds of people excel on your team and which roles are you bringing on next?

“I am hiring for all roles in Developer Relations and Developer Marketing, including Head of Technical Content and Advocacy, Head of Ops & Strategy, Head of Communities, Head of Developer Marketing, Developer Advocates across the regions, SDEs, Community Managers, Editors and Writers, Social Media Managers, Developer Marketers, SEO Managers, and Product/Program Managers. The kind of people who thrive on this team have a high bar, a bias for action, a passion for delivering the best developer experience, strong technical skills, and enjoy tackling ambitious challenges.”

What makes your team's work meaningful to PayPal's mission and customers?

“We are transforming how PayPal supports and talks to developers. This is an area that is being reinvested and reinvigorated, and we're excited to lead that journey to a powerful, meaningful transformation so that developers are top of mind every time.”

How do PayPal’s leadership principles shape your approach to leading your team and the way you show up each day?

“The Developer Relations team works to Put People First, Work Customer Back, and Win Together each day. We listen, we make improvements, we change what's not working, and we demand the best so that developers using PayPal feel heard, inspired, and excited to learn more.”
