Tell us about your role, and career journey at PayPal:
I joined PayPal in May 2024 as a Special Investigations Analyst on the Financial Crime Intelligence & Investigations (FCII) team, bringing with me a background in intelligence and cryptocurrency analysis from my time in the United States Marine Corps. For veterans considering a transition to the private sector, I'd say PayPal was a natural landing spot! The mission-driven culture, the team-first mentality, and the sense that the work matters are translated immediately from my military experience. In December 2025, I was promoted to Manager of High-Risk Cryptocurrency Investigations, a role that lets me lead a team focused on blockchain analytics, proactive financial crime intelligence, and law enforcement partnerships at the intersection of cryptocurrency and consumer protection. It's been a fast and rewarding journey, and I feel like I landed exactly where my skills and passions converge.
"…the work we do isn't abstract. It directly protects the customers and communities who depend on us."
What kinds of people excel on your team and which roles are you bringing on next?
The people who thrive on my team are naturally curious, analytically sharp, and comfortable operating at the edge of what's known, that cryptocurrency moves fast, and so do the criminals who exploit it. We look for investigators who can think like both an investigator and a blockchain analyst. Someone who gets energized by following a blockchain remittance pattern across a dozen cryptocurrency addresses and can distill this information into a cohesive report. On the horizon, we're actively looking to grow our investigative capacity with analysts who have a passion for countering financial crime, researching blockchain technology, and have a proactive mindset to stop illicit activity. Cryptocurrency experience, intellectual curiosity, and a mission-driven mindset are essential.

What makes your team's work meaningful to PayPal's mission and customers?
At its core, PayPal is built on trust! The trust that your payments are secure and the PayPal platform works for you. My team sits at the frontlines of that promise, tracking cryptocurrency-based financial crime that affects real customers. Whether we're proactively mitigating cryptocurrency risk, partnering with federal, state, or local law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks, or monitoring our own stablecoin PYUSD for illicit activity, the work we do isn't abstract. It directly protects the customers and communities who depend on us.
How do PayPal’s leadership principles shape your approach to leading your team and the way you show up each day?
PayPal's leadership principles resonate with me deeply, partly because they echo values I first learned in the Marine Corps. "Put People First" shapes how I show up for my team every day. I genuinely believe my job as a manager is to remove obstacles, raise the bar, and make the people around me better. In cryptocurrency investigations, where the threat landscape shifts constantly, I lean hard into innovation through uncertainty. There's no instruction manual for what we do, so I push my team to apply creativity and expertise to find a path forward even when the answer isn't obvious. "Win Together" is non-negotiable for us. Financial crime doesn't get solved by individuals, it gets solved by teams who trust each other, take ownership, and execute with excellence toward a shared mission both inside of PayPal and with our external law enforcement partners.
What do you enjoy most about working at PayPal?
What I enjoy most is the sense that the work matters. Every day my team is tackling real financial crime that affects real people, and PayPal gives us the tools, the partnerships, and the platform to actually do something about it. But if I'm being honest, my favorite moments are when a blockchain investigation we've built from the ground up turns into a real law enforcement action. Seeing months of analytical work translate into tangible impact for communities is something that never gets old. I'm also constantly surrounded by sharp, mission-driven people who push me to be better and being at the forefront of cryptocurrency investigations at a company, the size of PayPal is a rare opportunity I don't take for granted.
